2020 Scarab of the Year

As some of you may know, the Scarab Club holds a special place in my heart. I’m on the Board of Directors there. I volunteer my creative and communication services there. I was married there. It’s a place I often go for reflection and inspiration. If you know me, I’m sure I have talked to you about it at some point.

I’ve made many friendships and memories at the club that will last the rest of my life. Another memory came at the end of 2020 which I will also remember for a lifetime - I was awarded as being “Scarab of the Year”.

The Scarab of the Year is an annual award that goes to an individual who exemplifies and continues to push our mission, which is: In welcoming all drawn to creative expression and artistic excellence, we aim to foster a stronger, more vibrant arts community.

I’m extremely honored to receive this historic award and be recognized by my fellow colleagues and board members. I’d like to give a huge thanks to my fellow board members, the staff, the members, and the visitors of the Scarab Club. 2020 (and 2021 so far) has been extremely tough on individuals and organizations, and it’s because of the dedicated leadership and community of the SC that has allowed us to continue in the difficult climate we’re all living in.

I also got a pretty rad scarab paperweight from Pewabic Pottery.
